The City of Alexandria has lifted the boil water advisory for 2nd Street, which was issued on January 14, 2026. The advisory had been put in place after city personnel repaired a water main in the area.

According to Barrett Dezendorf, Superintendent of Water Operations, “The State of Louisiana has tested the water, and the results of the tests are clear.” The Alexandria Water Department confirmed that businesses and residents along 2nd Street are no longer required to boil their water before use.

With the end of the advisory, city officials recommend that those affected take several steps: run cold-water faucets for one minute; run drinking water fountains for one minute; flush automatic icemakers by making and discarding three batches of ice; run water softeners through a regeneration cycle; and run water coolers with direct connections for five minutes.

For more information, residents can contact Barrett Dezendorf at 318.441-6215 or barrett.dezendorf@cityofalex.com.
