U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy announced on Apr. 22 that Louisiana airports will receive $14,860,012 in federal funding through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to support upgrades and improvements at facilities across the state.
The funding is intended to enhance passenger safety, improve travel experiences, and increase operational efficiency by supporting terminal upgrades, hangar construction, taxiway rehabilitation, and other projects. The announcement highlights ongoing efforts to maintain and modernize transportation infrastructure in Louisiana.
“Louisiana’s airports welcome visitors, move goods, and support jobs,” said Dr. Cassidy. “These investments improve safety and efficiency today but also make sure our airports keep up with the demands of the future.”
Cassidy has a background in medicine and public service; he co-founded the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to deliver free health and dental care according to the official website. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University according to the official website.
In addition to his legislative work on infrastructure, Cassidy advances initiatives aimed at reducing health care costs, supporting coastal restoration efforts, and reforming mental health systems according to the official website. He serves on several Senate committees including Finance; Energy and Natural Resources; and Veterans Affairs according to the official website.
Cassidy’s family life includes raising three children with his wife—a retired breast cancer surgeon—and spending time with their grandchild according to the official website.
