The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources is set to receive over $2.1 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) to enhance natural gas pipeline safety. The funding will be used for personnel, equipment, and activities necessary for inspections and safety improvements.

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) highlighted the connection between this grant and previous federal investments: “Combined with investments from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, these funds help ensure Louisiana’s pipelines are safe, reliable, and properly maintained. Louisiana fuels the world with our LNG. Let’s do it in the safest way possible,” said Dr. Cassidy.

The grant is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve pipeline infrastructure in Louisiana.
