Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is set to receive over $22.5 million from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the reconstruction of Runway 02/20. The funding comes as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which was supported by U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA).
Senator Cassidy emphasized the importance of this project for both the city and the state’s economy. “MSY is the front door to Louisiana for millions of visitors each year,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Rebuilding this runway keeps New Orleans open for business, for Mardi Gras, and for all the people who fly here to enjoy our food, music, and culture.”
The grant will fund the final phase of construction on a 7,002-foot concrete runway at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
