Louisiana is set to receive over $34.5 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to aid in recovery and emergency preparedness efforts after Hurricanes Laura, Ida, and Francine. The announcement was made by U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA).
The funds will be used to reimburse local governments, utilities, and state agencies for permanent repairs, emergency measures, and management costs incurred due to the hurricanes.
“After a storm hits, families need their hospitals, schools, and power restored quickly,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding gets Louisiana back on its feet and ready for the next storm.”
The allocation aims to support essential services in the aftermath of natural disasters and help communities prepare for future events.
