Louisiana is set to receive nearly $480 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to aid in disaster recovery and emergency preparedness. The funding will support efforts following Hurricanes Ida, Laura, Zeta, Francine, and Isaac. It will also address challenges related to seawater intrusion as well as severe storms and flooding.

The funds are intended to reimburse local governments, utilities, state agencies, and nonprofit organizations for permanent repairs, emergency protective measures, debris removal, hazard mitigation projects, and management costs.

“After storms, Louisiana families need clean water, power, schools, and hospitals back up and running as quickly as possible,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding will help Louisiana rebuild stronger, recover faster, and be better prepared for what comes next.”
