U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) spoke on Fox News’ The Story with Martha MacCallum about a lunch meeting held with President Trump at the White House. During the meeting, Senate Republicans discussed strategies to end what they referred to as the “Schumer Shutdown.”

Cassidy expressed his views on the ongoing negotiations, stating, “I think for the President it has been easier to negotiate with Hamas than it has been with Chuck Schumer. We need an end to the shutdown. Let’s get to work.”

He also commented on his interaction with President Trump during the meeting: “The President was gracious as always. Connecting with the President about how we go forward was the most important thing we did.”
