U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) has introduced the American Energy Security Act of 2025, which aims to reauthorize the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s (PHMSA) Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety and Modernization (NGDISM) Grant Program. This program, initially established through Cassidy’s earlier infrastructure legislation, provides grants to support safety improvements and modernization of natural gas distribution pipelines.

“America and the world run on Louisiana natural gas,” said Dr. Cassidy. “We strengthen our country by strengthening our pipeline system.”

Since its inception, the NGDISM Grant Program has allocated $95 million to Louisiana for projects focused on pipeline safety and modernization.

Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) joined Cassidy in introducing this new legislation.

The NGDISM Grant Program is designed to assist communities in replacing old and leak-prone natural gas pipelines. Its goals include improving public safety, increasing reliability of energy delivery, and reducing methane emissions.
