U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) has released a statement to mark the 24th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Cassidy recalled his personal experience from that day and emphasized the lasting impact of the events on the nation.
“We all remember where we were. I was a doctor driving to work, and, as a doctor, I want to particularly remember the families who lost loved ones, the memory of those lost, and my fellow health care personnel—the nurses, the techs, the doctors—who responded on the day of, and then responded in the months and years after, helping to restore lives, to rebuild lives, that had been shattered by a tragic event.,” said Dr. Cassidy.
In his full remarks for the anniversary, Cassidy reflected on how much has changed since 2001 while urging people not to forget what happened that day or those affected by it.
“On this 24th anniversary of 9/11, our country changed.
Our country has changed so much since then in ways that we now take for granted. But, in that change, let’s not forget the events of the day.
We all remember where we were. I was a doctor driving to work, and, as a doctor, I want to particularly remember the families who lost loved ones, the memory of those lost, and my fellow health care personnel—the nurses, the techs, the doctors—who responded on the day of, and then responded in the months and years after, helping to restore lives, to rebuild lives, that had been shattered by a tragic event.
So never forget.
Never forget the tragedy.
Never forget our enemies.
And never forget, with gratitude, those who rebuilt shattered lives.”
