U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) has commended President Donald Trump, the United States Department of War, and Concord Resources Holdings Limited, in partnership with Pinnacle Asset Management, L.P., for a $450 million investment in the Atlantic Alumina Company LLC (ATALCO) located in Gramercy, Louisiana. This funding is expected to preserve 500 manufacturing jobs at the refinery.
In November, Senator Cassidy had urged the administration to support ATALCO, which is the last domestic alumina refinery in the country.
“President Trump is committed to securing American jobs and American supply chains,” said Dr. Cassidy. “By keeping ATALCO open, we’re saving 500 Louisiana jobs and cutting our reliance on China. That’s a win for our state and a win for our country.”
Jason Kellman, Chief Investment Officer at Pinnacle Asset Management, L.P., stated: “This deal represents a strategic approach to bolstering our national security through critical mineral independence. We applaud the action taken by the U.S. government, including Sen. Cassidy and the Louisiana congressional delegation, in strengthening this region and our country.”
Scott Kellman, Managing Partner at Pinnacle Asset Management, L.P., added: “We are proud to collaborate with the United States Government as ATALCO expands domestic alumina and gallium production, marking a meaningful step forward in securing the United States’ critical mineral supply.”
ATALCO has been producing alumina since 1959 for use as a raw material in aluminum manufacturing that supports American aerospace, defense, and automotive industries. The company also produces chemical grade alumina used across sectors such as oil refining catalysts, refractories, fire suppressants, semiconductor casings, and municipal water treatment systems. Both alumina and gallium are considered essential minerals for defense systems and next-generation energy technologies.
Senator Cassidy represents Louisiana in the U.S. Senate (official website), where he leads federal policy efforts as chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (official website). Before his election to Congress—first serving in Louisiana’s State Senate then representing Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District—Cassidy worked as a physician and educator after earning his degrees from Louisiana State University (official website).
