U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy announced on May 1 that $150 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will fund the replacement of the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The announcement followed a groundbreaking ceremony for the new bridge.
The funding is intended to improve safety and transportation infrastructure in the region. The project aims to provide safer roads and support job creation through construction and related activities.
“This new bridge means more jobs and safer roads for Lake Charles,” said Dr. Cassidy. “It is great to see the $150 million I secured for this much-needed project in action.”
The planned bridge will feature six lanes, shoulders, central barriers, updated interchanges, lower inclines, and increased overhead clearance. These improvements are expected to enhance public safety by offering a wider roadway for commuters.
Cassidy serves on several Senate committees including Finance, Energy and Natural Resources, and Veterans Affairs according to his official website. He has also co-founded the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to deliver free health and dental care according to his official website.
