U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy announced on Apr. 27 that Louisiana will receive $67,704,986.58 in federal funding for flood mitigation, home elevation, and drainage improvement projects across the state. The funds come from the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency and are supported by Cassidy’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
The announcement is significant for communities in Louisiana that face recurring flooding issues during storms and hurricanes. These projects aim to improve resilience and protect homes throughout the state.
“I secured this funding to deliver peace of mind for Louisiana families when a storm hits,” said Dr. Cassidy. “These projects help keep water out, protect homes, and improve resilience in our communities.”
Cassidy serves on several Senate committees including Finance, Energy and Natural Resources, and Veterans Affairs according to the official website. He has also advanced initiatives aimed at reducing health care costs, supporting coastal restoration efforts, and reforming mental health systems according to the official website.
In addition to his legislative work, Cassidy co-founded the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to provide free health and dental care for working uninsured residents according to the official website.
