U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy visited Livingston Parish on Wednesday to meet with small business owners and discuss economic development efforts in the region. During his visit, Cassidy participated in an announcement by Pipe and Steel Industrial regarding a new fabrication facility in Denham Springs. The company, led by President Kylie Sparks, currently employs over 250 people and expects the new facility to add 15-20 jobs.
“Kylie Sparks came from modest means,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Thanks to hard work and determination, he now has a large family and employs hundreds of people. He proves that anything is possible in Louisiana.”
Pipe and Steel Industrial provides fabrication services for industrial clients such as power, chemical, and fertilizer plants. Vice President Leon Badeaux thanked Cassidy for attending the event.
“We at Pipe and Steel Industrial are proud to be creating new jobs in Livingston Parish, and expanding our local, privately owned business that has been a vital part of our community for decades,” said Mr. Badeaux. “We appreciate Senator Cassidy joining us today, to celebrate this achievement. This is good for our community, and the entire state of Louisiana.”
Cassidy also spoke at the State of the Parish luncheon hosted by the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce. He highlighted local business achievements and discussed opportunities made possible through his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
“Leaders in Livingston Parish want to meet the needs of their growing community,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Thanks to money from my infrastructure bill, they’re doing that by building new roads and reducing risk of flooding. They’re showing what’s possible for all of Louisiana.”
The IIJA has provided millions for infrastructure improvements in Livingston Parish, including funding last September for elevating flood-prone homes and current efforts to secure $5 million for road improvements.
Cassidy also supported President Trump’s One, Big, Beautiful Bill, which includes provisions allowing businesses permanent deductions on certain investments as well as tax benefits like a 20% Qualified Business Income deduction for some types of businesses.
Livingston Parish President Randy Delatte praised Cassidy’s ongoing support: “I am so happy that Senator Cassidy was here today to join us at our State of the Parish address. Also met him this morning again at one of our announcements where they were doing expansion of a pipe and steel business. In addition to that, Cassidy is no stranger to Livingston Parish. He made the inauguration of the Livingston Parish President and all the council members. And that inauguration was held the same day the governor had his. There is only one senator that has been in Livingston Parish time and time again, and that’s been Cassidy,” said President Delatte.
