The City of Natchitoches announces that base construction work will resume on Friday, March 3, on St. Clair Avenue from Williams Avenue to East Fifth Street.

On Friday, Williams Equipment Services LLC will pulverize the existing base material between East Third Street and East Fifth Street, followed by construction of the cement-treated base course in this area on Saturday, March 4.

Then, weather permitting, the section of St. Clair Avenue between Williams Avenue and East Third Street will be pulverized on Monday, March 6, followed by construction of the cement-treated base course in this area on Tuesday, March 7.

While each operation is ongoing, St. Clair Avenue will be closed to through traffic during daytime hours, with motorists detouring around the work area via adjacent City streets.

In addition, the contractor plans to resume work next week to place the new asphalt surfacing on sections of other streets where new base construction has been completed, including Amulet Street from Payne Street to Howell Street, Breda Street, Mayfield Street, Simmons Alley, and Peninsula Drive.

While traveling through work zones, motorists are urged to exercise caution and to observe all warning signs and flagger instructions.
