Louisiana Christian University honored the former  Pineville Mayor and his wife, Clarence and Rosa Fields, Tuesday for  their outstanding contributions to Central Louisiana and the university  community.

President Rick Brewer officially announced the Clarence and Rosa Fields Emerging Black Leader scholarship to be awarded each fall beginning next year.  The full scholarship award competition will be held in February.

“For the Fields, it’s all about others,” Brewer said. “That’s how they live their lives, and that’s how Mayor Fields led.”

Mayor Fields recently retired after 22 years of service as  the mayor of the City of Pineville. Rosa Fields is a longtime respected  State Farm Insurance agent.

“We thank Dr. Brewer and the college so much for this  recognition,” the former mayor said. “Ultimately, I thank God that the  Lord has blessed us and that this will benefit someone else, a student  here.”

Rosa Fields concluded the couple’s remarks with an address to the students, “Cherish your time here. Do and be all you can.”
