Congresswoman Julia Letlow, representing Louisiana’s 5th District since 2021, shared updates on recent legislative actions and developments via social media. Letlow has been an active member of the U.S. Congress following her tenure in the Louisiana House of Representatives.
On May 23, 2025, Letlow highlighted a legislative effort aimed at bolstering border security measures. She noted that “as @POTUS works to secure the border, this week the House passed legislation to provide the tools necessary for President Trump to finish the job.” The proposed measures include deploying 10,000 new ICE agents, constructing a Border Wall, and investing in new border surveillance technology.
In another update on the same day, Letlow announced financial allocations secured for infrastructure improvements. She mentioned that “the Army Corps of Engineers has included $2.2 million in their annual work plan that I secured for much-needed dredging at Lake Providence Harbor.” This funding is expected to support ongoing port maintenance crucial for Northeast Louisiana’s economy.
Later on May 23rd, Letlow addressed agricultural policy changes benefitting local farmers. She stated that “President Trump’s agenda passed by the House this week delivers for Louisiana farmers.” The bill reportedly includes updated reference prices, increased expensing deductions for new equipment, and reduced taxes for pass-through businesses.
