January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month!
Rusty Havens with SWLA Abolitionists will be at the library in DeRidder on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 4:30pm to educate the public on what human trafficking can look like and help prepare attendees to protect themselves from this dangerous situation.

According to the Global Slavery Index, there were over 40.3 million actively trafficked humans in 2016. Over 403,000 of these people are in the United States. Considering the GSI’s estimate that at least 1 in every 1,000 Americans are living in modern slavery, this is a vital topic for our community to be aware of and face proactively. Visit our DeRidder branch on Thursday, Jan. 26, to learn how you can participate, spread awareness, and protect yourself and your loved ones.

The presentation will be followed by “Teen Talk” at 5pm, for ages 13-19.
