U.S. Senator John Kennedy, who represents Louisiana in the United States Senate, recently addressed issues ranging from welfare fraud to declining mallard duck populations in a series of social media posts.
On January 10, 2026, Kennedy commented on welfare fraud schemes in Minnesota, stating, “There’s a special place in hell for people who steal from the poor—no matter who you are or where you’re from. So don’t let anyone tell you it’s “racist” to care about the welfare fraud scheme mostly run by members of Minneapolis’ Somali community.”
The following day, on January 11, 2026, he called for legislative action against such schemes: “I’m begging, @LeaderJohnThune: Let’s pass another reconciliation bill to fight welfare fraud and prevent the theft in Minnesota from EVER happening again.”
On January 12, 2026, Kennedy shifted focus to wildlife management concerns affecting his home state: “Since the 1990s, many folks have resorted to unfair, unsportsmanlike practices to attract ducks—at the expense of states like Louisiana. In just over 20 years, our mallard harvest is down 95%. I’m calling on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to get to the bottom of this.”
Senator Kennedy has served as Louisiana’s representative in the U.S. Senate and operates district offices across several cities including Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Monroe, New Orleans and Shreveport as well as one in Washington D.C., according to his official website. He advocates for veterans, farmers and small businesses while serving on committees such as Appropriations and Budget. He also chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs (official website). Through town halls and public events he regularly engages with constituents statewide.
