Senator John Kennedy, representing Louisiana in the U.S. Senate, posted a series of statements on his social media account on September 30 and October 1, 2025, addressing crime and the political climate within the Democratic Party.
In a post dated September 30, 2025, Kennedy stated: “Too many members of the Democratic Party think that crime isn’t the criminal’s fault—it’s society’s fault. Thousands of years of human history prove them wrong.”
Later that evening, Kennedy commented on government operations, writing: “We’re going to have a government shutdown. Why? Because the loon wing of the Democratic Party is mad at Chuck Schumer, and Chuck wants them to love him.” The remarks referenced ongoing tensions in Congress over budget negotiations and leadership disputes.
On October 1, Kennedy continued his critique with another statement: “The loon wing of the Democratic Party thinks that if a cop has to shoot a criminal, it’s automatically the cop’s fault. But if a criminal shoots a cop, they think it’s the gun’s fault. As long as the far left is running our nation’s cities, we’ll have a major crime problem.”
Senator Kennedy’s comments reflect ongoing debates about public safety policies and partisan divisions in Washington. In recent years, discussions over law enforcement practices and federal spending have led to heightened tensions between lawmakers from both parties.
