John Kennedy, U.S. Senator from Louisiana and a senior Republican member of several Senate committees, has recently posted a series of critical tweets addressing both domestic and international political issues.

On April 30, 2026, Kennedy commented on the popularity of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer among his Democratic colleagues, stating: “My Democratic colleagues are big fans of Prime Minister Keir Starmer. His loony, woke ideas give Rep. Ocasio-Cortez a run for her money—which is why he’s polling right up there with gonorrhea.”

Later that day, Kennedy criticized Senate Democrats’ approach to immigration policy and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), writing: “Senate Democrats claimed they shut down DHS to reform ICE. But it’s clear they really shut down DHS out of fear of their own voters. My latest @FoxNewsOpinion:” The tweet included a link to his opinion piece.

On May 1, 2026, Kennedy turned his attention to U.S.-Iran relations with a brief statement: “America has Iran by the ying-yang.”

Kennedy’s remarks come as part of his ongoing engagement in national debates on foreign policy and immigration enforcement. He holds top Republican positions on subcommittees for energy and water development and economic policy according to his official website. In addition to serving on Senate committees for appropriations, banking, budget and judiciary, Kennedy contributes academically as an adjunct professor and substitute teacher.

He earned degrees including magna cum laude honors in political science, philosophy and economics from Vanderbilt University; a law degree from the University of Virginia; and a Bachelor of Civil Law with first class honors from Oxford University. He also served as executive editor of the Virginia Law Review and president of his senior class at Vanderbilt University. Kennedy has authored books and articles focused on Constitutional law and product liability legislation.
