Senator John Kennedy, a Republican representing Louisiana, posted a series of statements on his social media account between October 31 and November 1, 2025. The tweets addressed issues ranging from the Justice Department’s actions to international conflict and domestic government operations.
On October 31, Kennedy criticized those involved in the alleged politicization of federal law enforcement agencies. He wrote, “Anyone who approved the weaponization of the Justice Department and FBI against President Trump and Republican lawmakers ought to put a bag over their head.”
The following day, Kennedy commented on the ongoing war in Ukraine. In his post dated November 1, he stated, “Everybody except Xi Jinping, the Ayatollah, and Vladimir Putin wants an end to the war in Ukraine. But the only way to bring Putin to the table is to make it too costly for him to continue prosecuting the war.” This statement referenced key international figures—Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iran’s Supreme Leader (commonly referred to as “the Ayatollah”), and Russian President Vladimir Putin—and their roles or positions regarding the conflict.
Later that same day, Kennedy addressed a domestic issue by referencing a government shutdown. He wrote on November 1: “This government shutdown is a perfect example of why the aliens lock their doors when they fly past Earth.”
Senator John Kennedy has been known for his outspoken views on both national security matters and U.S. governance. His remarks come amid ongoing debates about political influence within federal agencies—a topic that has received heightened attention since investigations into former President Donald Trump’s administration—and continued concerns over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in early 2022. Government shutdowns have also remained contentious issues in Congress due to their impact on federal operations and public services.
