John Kennedy, U.S. Senator representing Louisiana, posted a series of statements on his Twitter account on July 17, 2025, addressing issues ranging from immigration enforcement to media partisanship and healthcare price transparency.

In a tweet published at 17:22 UTC, Kennedy commented on the enforcement of immigration laws, stating: “Illegal immigration is illegal—duh. If you want to obstruct our immigration law enforcement, you should have two choices: try to change the law or go to jail.”

Later that day at 18:00 UTC, Kennedy criticized NPR CEO Katherine Maher for her comments regarding the organization’s political stance. He wrote: “NPR CEO Katherine Maher is back on CNN digging herself into an even deeper hole. She claims that NPR is ‘a nonpartisan organization.’ So why did a former NPR editor find that their $201M D.C. newsroom had 87 Democrats in editorial positions and ZERO Republicans?”

At 19:08 UTC, Kennedy addressed healthcare price transparency by drawing a comparison between restaurant menu pricing and hospital costs. He stated: “If Louisianians can find the price of a side of mashed potatoes at any of the 600 Cracker Barrel locations around the country, they ought to be able to find the price of a blood test at the nearest hospital, too. Read my latest @NRO:”

Senator John Kennedy has previously been vocal about border security and has supported legislation aimed at increasing transparency in healthcare pricing as well as raising concerns about media bias.
