Senator John Kennedy has expressed his opinions on public broadcasting and its funding through a series of tweets. On June 17, 2025, he addressed various issues related to the role of federal government funding in media companies and specific criticisms directed at PBS and NPR.

In his initial tweet, “The federal government has no business funding media companies.” Kennedy argued against the practice of government funding for media organizations. He emphasized the need to cease such financial support, advocating for an end to public broadcasting subsidies.

Further elaborating on his stance, Kennedy stated in another tweet that “PBS and NPR have reported that just about every aspect of American life is racist, including law and order, country music, and birds—yes, birds.” He criticized these outlets for their reporting on social issues and their stance on gender-related topics in sports.

Kennedy also commented on past coverage by these networks regarding political matters. In a separate post, he remarked that “NPR dismissed Hunter Biden’s laptop and the Covid-19 lab leak as conspiracy theories.” Additionally, he accused PBS of bias during the 2024 presidential campaign with their program titled “A Blueprint for the Case Against Trump.”
