John Kennedy, U.S. Senator from Louisiana and Chair of the Energy & Water Appropriations Subcommittee, recently posted a series of statements on his official Twitter account addressing legislative actions, national figures, and the anniversary of Louisiana’s statehood.

On April 29, 2026, Kennedy wrote, “As Chair of the Energy & Water Appropriations Subcommittee, I passed an annual funding bill that actually CUT spending. How? By taking a meat axe to wasteful Green New Deal programs. I’m proud of that. Now, let’s do another bill that looks like somebody designed it on purpose.” On the same day, he commented on recent news involving Dr. Anthony Fauci: “My reaction to the news about Dr. Fauci and his minions? We’re going to have to get some new conspiracy theories, because all the old ones turned out to be true.”

The following morning, Kennedy marked Louisiana’s 214th anniversary with a message: “Today, the Pelican State turns 214 years old. It’s an honor to work for the good people of Louisiana every day. No other state could make being stranded from real America here in Washington feel worth it.”

Kennedy holds several prominent roles in the Senate beyond chairing the Energy & Water Appropriations Subcommittee; he also serves on committees for appropriations, banking, budget and judiciary according to his official website. His academic background includes degrees from Vanderbilt University and Oxford University as well as a law degree from the University of Virginia. He has contributed to education as an adjunct professor and substitute teacher and has authored works on Constitutional law and state legislation.
