John Kennedy, U.S. Senator from Louisiana, has used his social media platform to express support for President Trump’s recent rescission package and to criticize both government spending and the leadership of the Democratic Party.
On July 16, 2025, Kennedy stated, (5/5) Thanks to President Trump’s rescission package, taxpayers may finally be able to get out of the business of deeply weird, left-wing media. That’s a good thing.
The following day, he commented on President Biden’s budget promises and the Senate’s actions: .@POTUS promised to cut waste out of our budget, and he’s delivering with his rescissions package. I’m proud that the Senate voted to stop wasting your tax dollars on pointless spending porn and activist media, and I’m eager to see this bill become law. (July 17, 2025).
Later on July 17, Kennedy criticized Zohran Mamdani, identifying him as “the new leader of the Democratic Party,” and accused him of supporting radical economic policies: Zohran Mamdani, the new leader of the Democratic Party, supports “the abolition of private property” and “seizing the means of production.” But Washington Democrats are still cozying up to him. There’s no doubt about it: the loon wing is running the show.
Rescission packages are legislative tools that allow the president to propose cuts to previously approved federal spending. Such proposals require congressional approval before becoming law. These measures have historically been used by administrations seeking to reduce what they view as unnecessary or wasteful expenditures.
Senator John Kennedy is known for his outspoken commentary on fiscal policy and government accountability. His recent statements align with ongoing debates in Congress regarding federal budget priorities and oversight.
