Congresswoman Julia Letlow, representing Louisiana’s 5th district, recently shared her thoughts on various issues through a series of tweets. Letlow, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2021 after replacing Ralph Abraham, addressed topics ranging from hurricane preparedness to women’s sports and Medicaid eligibility.
On June 5, 2025, Letlow emphasized the importance of being prepared for hurricane season. She encouraged individuals to visit her website for emergency resources and preparedness tips, stating: “With hurricane season now here, it’s important to be prepared before a disaster strikes.”
Later that day, Letlow expressed her commitment to protecting women’s sports. As a mother and former track athlete, she voiced concern over states like California allowing men to compete in women’s sports categories. She stated: “As a mom, daughter and former track athlete, I’m committed to protecting women’s sports from states like California that are allowing men to steal athletic achievements from our girls.”
In another tweet posted on June 5, Letlow commented on Medicaid eligibility for illegal immigrants. She noted that even Hillary Clinton agrees with her stance against providing Medicaid benefits to this group: “Illegal immigrants should not be on Medicaid. Even Hillary agrees!”
Julia Letlow was born in Monroe, Louisiana in 1981 and currently resides in Start. She graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
