U.S. Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) has joined a bipartisan Senate resolution marking the second anniversary of the October 7, 2023, attacks by Hamas on Israel. The resolution, led by Senators Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and John Fetterman (D-Pa.), condemns the actions of Hamas, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of Americans and the taking of several hostages.

The resolution denounces Iran-backed Hamas for its use of rape as a weapon of war and expresses concern about increasing antisemitic protests worldwide. It also reaffirms U.S. support for Israel’s right to exist and defend itself, and calls for the release of all hostages still held by Hamas, including American citizens Omer Neutra and Itay Chen.

Senator Kennedy stated, “Two years ago, the world watched in horror as Hamas terrorists murdered innocent men, women and children in cold blood. Israel has every right to defend itself against barbaric attacks, and America must stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our strongest ally in the Middle East. We can’t let the world forget what happened on October 7 and the Americans Hamas took hostage and killed.”

All Senate Republicans have cosponsored the resolution.
