Alexandria Fire Department responded to a building fire that occurred on June 12, 2023, on Douglas Street.

At approximately 11:44 AM, the Alexandria Fire Department was dispatched to the corner of Main Street and Douglas Street in reference to a fully involved building fire.  The first unit arrived on the scene within three minutes of the initial alarm time. A full complement of units was on the scene within six minutes. AFD dispatched three engine companies, an aerial company, a medical unit, one district chief, and an investigative unit. The fire progressed to an adjacent abandoned house before the suppression crews brought the two building fires under control within 17 minutes of the first unit arriving. The fire’s cause was an unattended candle. No injuries were reported during this event.
