U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., posted a series of updates on his official Twitter account between April 29 and April 30, 2026, addressing legislative developments, constituent advocacy, and state pride.

On April 29, Cassidy highlighted a recent regulatory reversal involving firearm accessories: “Earlier this month, I, alongside 12 of my @SenateGOP colleagues, urged @ATFHQ to repeal the disastrous Biden-era pistol brace rule. Today, they officially repealed it. The ATF should never turn law-abiding gun owners into criminals over inconsistent definitions. The right to https://t.co/xEomZPMiKL https://t.co/mN3JpqK0p9”.

Later that day, Cassidy shared news regarding a Louisiana resident’s legal ordeal abroad: “A Louisiana resident, Tina Becker, was facing life in a Philippine prison over an empty prescription bottle. After an 18-month fight for her freedom, we finally secured her safe return to Slidell. It was a privilege to welcome her back in person yesterday!”.

On April 30, Cassidy marked Louisiana’s anniversary with a message reflecting on the state’s culture and people: “Happy 214th Birthday, Louisiana! Nowhere else in the world can match our vibrant culture, unique food scene, natural beauty, or the kindheartedness and resilience of our people. Serving our state is the honor of a lifetime.”

Senator Cassidy represents Louisiana in the U.S. Senate and serves on several key committees including Finance; Energy and Natural Resources; and Veterans Affairs (official website). He co-founded the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to provide free health and dental care for working uninsured residents (official website). In addition to his legislative work on health care costs and coastal restoration initiatives (official website), Cassidy earned both undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University (official website) and has raised three children with his wife (official website).
