U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., has recently shared updates on social media regarding federal court decisions, support for Louisiana athletes, and local economic initiatives.

On April 8, 2026, Cassidy addressed a recent legal development concerning abortion drug policy: “A Louisiana federal court agrees with what @AGLizMurrill and I have said: Biden’s reckless mail-order abortion drug policy hurts Louisiana and endangers women. It’s time the FDA stops dragging its feet on the safety review and reinstates the in-person dispensing requirement.”

The following day, April 9, Cassidy expressed encouragement for Louisiana golfers participating in a major tournament: “Best of luck to Shreveport native and @LSUMensGolf alum Sam Burns, as well as former @McNeese golfer Robert MacIntyre as they tee off at the Masters this weekend! Bring a Green Jacket back home to Louisiana!”

Later that same day, Cassidy highlighted his role in supporting local businesses through culinary initiatives: “People travel from all over the world just for Louisiana’s incredible food scene. I was proud to secure funding for this project, which will support local businesses, create jobs, and ensure our culinary legacy continues to thrive!”

Senator Cassidy serves as chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and is also a member of the Finance, Energy and Natural Resources, and Veterans Affairs Committees. He has co-founded the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to provide free health services to underserved populations (official website). His legislative efforts include reducing health care costs and improving mental health systems. Additionally, Cassidy earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University.
