U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., recently used his social media platform to address issues ranging from violent crime and mental health to education policy and religious liberty. In a series of posts published between September 8 and September 9, 2025, Cassidy referenced national debates on public safety, educational outcomes, and parental rights.

On September 8, Cassidy commented on a recent murder in Charlotte: “This is tragic. The murder of an innocent young woman in Charlotte never should have happened. A man with a violent criminal record and untreated mental illness should not have been walking free. President Trump is right. We must crack down on crime and clean up our streets.”

Later that day, he addressed the topic of religious liberty and school choice: “President Trump’s religious liberty agenda is about freedom for families. That means defending parents’ rights, supporting faith-based groups, and, through my Educational Choice for Children Act, giving children the chance to attend schools that reflect their values.”

On September 9, Cassidy turned his attention to K-12 education outcomes: “These scores clearly show the K-12 system is failing children & families. Students are leaving high school unable to read & unprepared for the workforce. We are at risk of having an entire generation of children fail to become productive adults if classroom proficiency does not”

Senator Cassidy has been active in advocating for legislation such as the Educational Choice for Children Act, which aims to expand access to schools aligned with family values by providing scholarship opportunities funded through tax credits.

His remarks also echo ongoing national discussions regarding public safety reforms—particularly concerning individuals with histories of violence or untreated mental illness—and debates over how best to improve educational standards across the country.
