U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., has recently shared a series of posts on his official Twitter account addressing energy policy, public health decision-making, and education priorities.
On September 11, 2025, Cassidy commented on the advancement of David LaCerte’s nomination to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), stating: “Great news out of @EnergyGOP today as fellow Louisianan David LaCerte’s nomination to @FERC was successfully voted out of committee. As I said in his hearing, he is the right person to help unleash American energy. Looking forward to voting for his confirmation on the Senate”. The FERC plays a significant role in regulating interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil. Nominees are typically vetted by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee before being confirmed by the full Senate.
In another post dated September 12, 2025, Cassidy addressed debates around federal health policy and individual choice: “I see Ralph disagrees with President Trump and President Trump’s FDA Commissioner, Dr. Marty Makary. That is ok. There is no mandate. But Big Government should stop throwing up barriers in front of someone who wants to make their own informed decision based upon what they and”. This comment reflects ongoing national discussions about balancing government regulation with personal autonomy in healthcare decisions.
Later that day, Cassidy highlighted concerns about child literacy rates in the United States: “Child illiteracy is linked to higher unemployment rates, lower lifetime earnings, more high school dropouts and higher incarceration rates.
Teaching students how to read effectively should be the top priority of America’s K-12 education system.” Research has shown that low literacy among children can contribute to long-term social challenges such as increased unemployment and incarceration rates.
Senator Bill Cassidy represents Louisiana in the U.S. Senate and serves on several key committees related to health care and energy policy.
