U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., used his social media platform on February 9, 2026, to address concerns over mismanagement of childcare payments in Minnesota and announce new funding for infrastructure improvements in Lafayette.
In a post on February 9, Cassidy criticized the handling of childcare funds, stating, “Stop trying to spin this & find solutions instead. Audits found 11% of Minnesota’s childcare payments contain errors or waste, the highest rate in the country, while some states keep it under 1%. That’s taxpayer money meant for children and working families.” He continued his remarks with a commitment to legislative action: “Every dollar misspent is a dollar taken from a family who needs it. I am working on legislation to protect these funds and make sure this does not happen again.”
Later that day, Cassidy highlighted his efforts to secure additional resources for local infrastructure. He wrote, “We all know how vital Johnston Street is to Lafayette. That is why I was proud to secure an additional $7.5 million to upgrade it in the latest funding bill. I am committed to making sure Johnston Street works well for the families and businesses who rely on it every day.”
