U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., recently addressed several issues relevant to Louisiana residents through a series of posts on his social media account. His comments ranged from support for small businesses to emergency response and disaster relief.

On August 22, 2025, Cassidy highlighted a discussion with local entrepreneurs: “Great conversation yesterday with Louisiana small business owners at a roundtable hosted by the @NFIB. We talked about how making the 20% small business tax deduction permanent in the One Big Beautiful Bill helps them grow, hire, and invest right back into our communities.”

The following day, after a fire at Smitty’s Supply in Roseland, Cassidy expressed gratitude that there were no injuries and acknowledged emergency personnel: “I am grateful that no one was injured in the major fire at Smitty’s Supply in Roseland. Thank you to the brave first responders on the scene managing this dangerous situation. Please continue to follow all guidance from local officials and stay safe.” (August 23, 2025).

Later on August 23, Cassidy reiterated his support for first responders and discussed legislative efforts: “Thank goodness for our first responders. We must give them the resources they need when emergencies strike. That’s why I’ve worked to strengthen disaster relief programs and introduced the Disaster Learning and Life Saving Act to avoid this happening again.”

Senator Cassidy has been active in supporting both economic initiatives for small businesses—such as advocating for permanent tax deductions—and legislative measures aimed at improving disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
