U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., posted a series of statements on his official X account in late March 2026 addressing voting rights, congressional stock trading, and chemical abortion drugs.
On March 24, 2026, Cassidy wrote: “Only American citizens should vote in American elections. We must pass the SAVE America Act NOW!”
The following day, he addressed concerns over lawmakers’ financial activities, stating on March 25: “Folks are really ticked off by Members of Congress making a massive profit trading stocks. I introduced the Stop Insider Trading Act to put a stop to it and restore faith in Congress.”
Later that day, Cassidy announced an inquiry into certain pharmaceutical practices. On March 25, he posted: “Just launched an investigation into chemical abortion manufacturers and into online retailers illegally selling misbranded, knock-off chemical abortion drugs to women. They are PROFITING from harming women and killing babies. FDA should act. Let’s protect women and children!”
Cassidy serves as chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and sits on the Finance, Energy and Natural Resources, and Veterans Affairs Committees. He has focused on efforts to reduce health care costs and improve mental health systems (official website). Additionally, Cassidy co-founded the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to deliver free health services to underserved populations (official website).
He earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University (official website) and has advanced initiatives supporting coastal restoration among other policy priorities.
