U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., representing Louisiana in the U.S. Senate and chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, addressed a range of issues in a series of tweets posted on February 4, 2026.
In his first tweet at 19:12 UTC, Cassidy called for an end to gender transition surgeries for minors, stating: “Dangerous, irreversible gender transition surgeries on children must end. ASPS is right to acknowledge this reality. Others should follow suit. As @GOPHELP Chair, I will continue to work with @POTUS to protect children from irreversible harm.”
Later that day at 20:19 UTC, Cassidy commented on his meeting with state leaders during a national event: “Great to meet with Louisiana leaders in D.C. for the National Prayer Breakfast.
These are folks living their faith across our state, serving our communities, and lifting us up in prayer.
Grateful for their time and their work for Louisiana.”
At 21:12 UTC the same evening, Cassidy marked National Girls and Women in Sports Day by referencing his family and ongoing policy efforts: “Today we celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
As the father of two girls, I’m working hard to ensure FAIRNESS for women in sports. I’m holding Democrat states accountable to @POTUS’ executive order that keeps biological men out of women’s sports.”
Cassidy has served as Louisiana’s senator since winning election in 2014 after previous terms representing the state’s 6th Congressional District and service in the Louisiana State Senate. He holds both undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University. As chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), he plays a significant role shaping federal policy related to health care and education matters (source). His office also includes senior staff such as a first assistant.
