U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., shared a series of posts on September 2, 2025, addressing topics ranging from youth sports to public health and education reform.
In his first post of the day, Cassidy wrote, “These young men will be champions off the field because they are willing to be on the field.” (September 2, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Cassidy commented on public health concerns related to hepatitis B vaccination. He stated, “People objecting to hepatitis B vaccination apparently have never treated patients like this. Their life ending with a terrible liver disease or else requiring a transplantation. This is about preventing illnesses like this. I have the experience of treating patients infected” (September 2, 2025). As a practicing physician before entering politics, Cassidy has firsthand experience in treating patients affected by infectious diseases.
In his final post that evening, Cassidy emphasized the importance of educational opportunities for children and referenced his leadership role in Congress: “Couldn’t agree more. We should give our children as many opportunities to succeed as possible. As Chair of @GOPHELP, I’m making it a priority to improve child literacy rates and fix the broken K-12 education system to better serve American children and families.” (September 2, 2025). The senator currently chairs the Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee (HELP), which oversees federal policy related to education and healthcare.
Cassidy’s comments reflect ongoing national discussions about childhood development through sports participation, vaccine hesitancy and its consequences for public health—including hepatitis B prevention—and efforts at both state and federal levels to address literacy rates and broader K-12 education reforms across the United States.
