U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., posted a series of tweets on September 12, 2025, addressing public health, local sports culture, and economic policy.
In his first post, Cassidy highlighted the dangers of measles and advocated for vaccination as the best preventive measure. On September 12, 2025, he wrote: “Measles is highly contagious & very serious. A severe case can lead to pneumonia and encephalitis (swelling of the brain), or even death. This doesn’t have to happen. The best way to prevent the spread of measles is to get vaccinated.” The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that measles can cause severe complications such as pneumonia and encephalitis, especially in young children and those with weakened immune systems.
Later that evening, Cassidy commented on an upcoming college football game between Louisiana State University (LSU) and Florida. He stated: “The fog, the rivalry, the thrown shoe; this night was just unbelievable. The LSU-Florida game always seems to have a little something extra. Looking forward to a big Tiger win tomorrow!” The LSU-Florida football rivalry has a long history of memorable moments and dramatic games.
In another tweet from September 12, 2025, Cassidy discussed his meeting with Louisiana credit union leaders and referenced recent tax policy initiatives. He said: “Great to meet with leaders from our Louisiana credit unions this week. The Republican’s Working Family Tax Cuts put more money in your pocket, and our local credit unions help turn those savings into a first home or a car for your family.” Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that often provide loans at lower rates than traditional banks.
Senator Bill Cassidy represents Louisiana in the U.S. Senate and is known for his work on healthcare policy as well as issues affecting families in his state.
