U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., used his social media platform to highlight recent legislative actions and express his views on current Senate dynamics in late March 2026.
On March 22, Cassidy addressed the progress of a key piece of legislation, stating, “Republicans are doing the work to pass the SAVE America Act and address every concern raised. Senate Democrats still won’t vote for it. It’s time to pass it.” This post came as discussions over the SAVE America Act continued in Congress.
The following day, Cassidy referenced another legislative effort with a focus on technology and consumer protection. On March 23 he wrote, “I was also proud to support the GENIUS Act, now law, to protect consumers and boost innovation with a clear, American-led framework. America cannot cede control of this industry to a foreign country.”
Senator Cassidy has a long-standing record in public service beyond his legislative activities. He co-founded the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to provide free health and dental care for working uninsured individuals (official website). He also serves as chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee while holding positions on several other committees including Finance; Energy and Natural Resources; and Veterans Affairs (official website). His policy efforts include reducing health care costs and supporting coastal restoration initiatives.
Cassidy earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University (official website). Alongside his wife—who is a retired breast cancer surgeon—he has raised three children and spends time with their grandchild (official website).
