U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., recently used his social media platform to highlight infrastructure and policy developments, as well as events he participated in throughout Louisiana.
On August 21, 2025, Cassidy shared his visit to a major flood protection initiative: “Good to be on-site at the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project today with the @USACENOLA. The 18.5 miles of levees and flood walls they are building will protect our River Parishes from floodwaters. This is how we build a safer Louisiana.”
Later that day, Cassidy commented on border security measures under President Trump’s administration, referencing statements by Governor Kristi Noem: “.@SecNoem is right. President Trump said he would secure the border, and he has delivered. Allowing ZERO illegal immigrants to be released into the country for three straight months is an historic accomplishment. Promises made, promises kept.”
In another post on August 21, Cassidy noted an event honoring families affected by fentanyl-related tragedies: “Senator Cassidy Hosts Baton Rouge Ceremony Honoring Angel Families, Celebrating President Trump’s Signing of the HALT Fentanyl Act”.
The West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project aims to provide enhanced flood protection for communities vulnerable to hurricanes and rising water levels in southeast Louisiana—a region that has faced repeated flooding in recent decades.
Senator Cassidy’s remarks about immigration reference a period during which federal authorities reported not releasing any undocumented migrants into the U.S. interior for three consecutive months under new enforcement policies.
The ceremony in Baton Rouge recognized “Angel Families,” or families who have lost loved ones due to fentanyl overdoses. The event also marked President Trump’s signing of the HALT Fentanyl Act, legislation designed to increase penalties for trafficking synthetic opioids and make certain substances permanently classified as Schedule I drugs under federal law.
