U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., highlighted recent legislative achievements and local investments in a series of social media posts between April 14 and April 15, 2026.
On April 14, Cassidy shared his involvement with local business development initiatives, stating, “Enjoyed the chance to talk with culinary entrepreneurs at the JEDCO Food and Beverage Incubator announcement in Jefferson Parish last week! Proud that these folks, and other entrepreneurs in Southeast Louisiana, will benefit from the $3.65 MILLION investment I secured for this”.
The following day, Cassidy addressed federal tax policy reforms aimed at easing the burden on working families. On April 15 he posted, “Filing taxes is never fun, but thanks to Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cuts bill and my IRS Math Act, families will see more money back in their pockets and don’t have to worry about being railroaded by the IRS over a simple mistake. Proud of these achievements that make tax”.
Later that same day, Cassidy drew attention to environmental restoration efforts in Louisiana: “For years, I’ve worked to strengthen the Pontchartrain Restoration Program, including securing $53 MILLION for the program through my infrastructure bill! I am incredibly proud of the continued support to improve water quality, reduce flood risk, and restore animal habitat near”.
Senator Cassidy serves as chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and sits on several others including Finance; Energy and Natural Resources; and Veterans Affairs Committees (official website). He has also co-founded health clinics offering free services for uninsured workers in Louisiana. His legislative focus includes reducing health care costs and advancing coastal restoration projects.
Cassidy earned both undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University. Alongside his public service career, he has worked on community health initiatives with his wife—a retired breast cancer surgeon—and raised three children (official website).
