U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., has recently highlighted local initiatives and infrastructure improvements in a series of posts on his social media account.
On March 31, 2026, Cassidy recognized a community effort by Lafayette resident David Hoke, stating, “We can always use more of God’s guidance in Washington. Lafayette’s own David Hoke has made it his mission to share scripture by creating personalized Bibles for elected leaders and their spouses. I’m proud to highlight his ministry in this month’s Local Spotlight.”
Later that day, Cassidy discussed the importance of first impressions for visitors arriving in Lafayette and referenced recent investments in airport infrastructure: “A visitor’s first impression of a community is often the airport, and the new terminal in Lafayette makes a great one. I’m proud to have secured $55 MILLION for LFT to make sure that first impression stays that way for years to come!” This funding aims to support long-term improvements at Lafayette Regional Airport.
On April 1, 2026, Cassidy commented on an event with student members of Turning Point USA at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette: “Incredible energy and a fantastic crowd at the @TPUSA_ULL meeting yesterday! It was great to speak to them about the American Dream and how we can preserve it. The future of conservative values in Louisiana is strong!”
Senator Cassidy serves as chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and is also a member of several other committees including Finance; Energy and Natural Resources; and Veterans Affairs (official website). He has focused legislative efforts on reducing health care costs, supporting coastal restoration projects, and reforming mental health systems. Additionally, he co-founded the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to provide free health services for underserved populations.
Cassidy holds undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University (official website) and has a background in public service alongside his wife—a retired breast cancer surgeon—with whom he raised three children.
