U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., a representative of Louisiana in the U.S. Senate and chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, highlighted his recent activities and policy positions in a series of posts on March 18, 2026.
In one post, Cassidy discussed his ongoing collaboration with Monroe Mayor Friday Ellis: “Great catching up with Monroe Mayor Friday Ellis yesterday. We’ve been working closely together to deliver for the city. I was proud to help secure $4.5 million for the Benoit Community Center. I’ll keep working hard to support our folks in Northeast Louisiana!” (March 18, 2026).
On the same day, Cassidy addressed voter identification requirements by referencing public support for related legislation: “83% of Americans support the SAVE America Act. More than 70% of Democratic voters support it. You show an ID to board a plane. You show an ID to buy a gun. You should have to show an ID to vote.” (March 18, 2026).
Cassidy also praised advancements in medical education at Louisiana State University institutions: “Stronger nutrition training means healthier patients. Proud to see @LSUHealthNO and @LSUHS equipping future physicians to better tackle chronic disease and help Louisiana families live longer, healthier lives.” (March 18, 2026).
According to his official website, Cassidy obtained both undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University and has held various legislative roles since serving in the Louisiana State Senate and U.S. House before winning election to the U.S. Senate in 2014. His office includes senior staff such as a first assistant.
As chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, Cassidy influences federal policy across health care, labor, education, and retirement issues.
