Cassidy’s background includes medical education at Louisiana State University and work as a physician before entering public service. He began his political career in the Louisiana State Senate and later served in the U.S. House for Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2014. As chairman of a key Senate committee, he influences federal policy on health care, labor, education, and retirement.
