Later that afternoon, he shared his stance on gender participation in athletics by stating: “Just voted YES on @SenTuberville’s amendment to SAVE American Sports by banning men in women’s sports. Women’s sports should stay for women!!” (March 21, 2026).

Senator Cassidy serves as chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and is a member of other key committees including Finance; Energy and Natural Resources; and Veterans Affairs (official website). He has a background in medicine with undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University. In addition to his legislative duties, Cassidy co-founded the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic providing free health care services for those without insurance.
