U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., posted a series of messages on August 29, 2025, highlighting his legislative priorities and local engagement in Louisiana.
In his first post, Cassidy addressed the importance of government transparency and child health protection. He wrote on August 29: “The President and Secretary are right. We need radical transparency. We need to protect the health of our children. The two go together. I am committed to the President’s vision, which is why the HELP Committee will conduct oversight.” The senator chairs the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee.
Later that day, Cassidy described a meeting with a community leader working on disaster recovery efforts. On August 29 he stated: “Met the executive director of the New Orleans ToolBank, an organization equipping Louisianans and folks across the U.S. with equipment they need to rebuild after a natural disaster. Watch to the end to find out how they can help.”
Cassidy also acknowledged support for Rebuilding Together New Orleans (@RT_NewOrleans) as part of Hurricane Katrina anniversary events. In his August 29 post he said: “Big shoutout to @deepfriedads for supporting @RT_NewOrleans with a new website grant—perfect timing as we mark 20 years since Hurricane Katrina.”
Hurricane Katrina made landfall in Louisiana in late August 2005, causing widespread destruction in New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast. The hurricane led to significant federal disaster response reforms and prompted ongoing rebuilding efforts in affected communities.
Senator Bill Cassidy has represented Louisiana in the U.S. Senate since 2015 and is known for his involvement in health policy and disaster recovery initiatives.
