U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) met with constituents from Louisiana at his “Catch Up with Cassidy” event in Washington, D.C. on April 16. The gathering brought together Louisianans from across the state to engage directly with the senator and share concerns affecting their communities.
The event offered an opportunity for participants representing various organizations—including the City of Minden, Tulane University School of Medicine, AARP Louisiana, Kipp Public Schools, Louisiana BIO, Franklin Medical Center, and others—to speak with Cassidy about local challenges and priorities.
“Nobody knows what Louisiana needs better than the folks who live there,” said Dr. Cassidy. “These conversations give me exactly what I need to keep delivering real results for our communities.”
Cassidy serves as chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and is a member of several other committees including Finance; Energy and Natural Resources; and Veterans Affairs according to his official website. He has advanced initiatives focused on reducing health care costs, supporting coastal restoration efforts, and reforming mental health systems according to his official website.
Cassidy co-founded the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to provide free health and dental care for working uninsured individuals according to his official website. He earned both undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University according to his official website.
Outside of public service work in health care delivery—such as co-founding the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic—Cassidy raised three children alongside his wife who is a retired breast cancer surgeon; they now enjoy time with their grandchild according to his official website.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by elected officials like Cassidy to maintain direct communication with constituents about legislative priorities that affect daily life in Louisiana.
