U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., addressed concerns about conflicts of interest in public health decision-making in a series of posts on September 4, 2025.
In his first post, Cassidy stated, “If someone is paid thousands to take a side on an issue, they shouldn’t also be making sweeping public health decisions about that issue. That’s a conflict of interest. Because you can’t be truly impartial when money has already tied you to one side.” (September 4, 2025).
Later the same day, Cassidy expressed agreement with another user by posting, “Totally agree!! @DrOzCMS” (September 4, 2025).
A third post from Cassidy included only links: “https://t.co/oIZM0EYrca https://t.co/ORiAnzxz83” (September 4, 2025).
Senator Bill Cassidy represents Louisiana in the U.S. Senate and has a background as a medical doctor. Conflict of interest concerns have been raised in various sectors when individuals who receive financial compensation related to specific issues are also tasked with making policy or regulatory decisions on those matters.
