U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., posted a series of updates on his social media accounts reflecting on Good Friday, a community meeting in Ascension Parish, and attending a religious performance in Alexandria.
On April 3, 2026, Cassidy shared a message marking Good Friday: “Today, we reflect on the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on the cross. Wishing everyone a blessed Good Friday as we prepare to celebrate His resurrection.”
Later that day, Cassidy described an engagement with local leaders: “Great to meet with the @AscenChamber yesterday to talk about how we can keep Ascension Parish a great place to work, raise a family, and start a business!” The Ascension Chamber is an organization focused on supporting businesses and economic development in Ascension Parish.
On April 4, 2026, Cassidy commented on attending a religious theatrical event: “Went to the Messiah at Pentecostals of Alexandria last night. It was the best theatrical presentation I’ve ever seen of the Gospel. The last night they’re performing is Sunday. You’ll enjoy it!”
Cassidy serves as chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and is also a member of the Finance, Energy and Natural Resources, and Veterans Affairs Committees. He has worked on initiatives aimed at reducing health care costs and reforming mental health systems (official website). Additionally, he co-founded the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to provide free health and dental care for those without insurance.
