U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., used his social media account on September 5, 2025, to share personal reflections and commentary on issues ranging from local business support to national policy concerns.
In a morning post, Cassidy highlighted a local product, stating, “Brewed a pot of coffee from Euro Caffe this morning—distributed in Alexandria, Louisiana. Very smooth!” (September 5, 2025).
Later that day, Cassidy referenced the two-decade anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and his ongoing work for Louisiana. He wrote, “ICYMI: Read my op-ed on the 20th anniversary of Katrina in the @AmericanPress. In it, I reflect on how I will never forget the devastation, nor the resiliency of Louisianans. That has driven my work to secure funds through the IIJA to strengthen flood protection for the future.” (September 5, 2025). Hurricane Katrina was one of the most devastating natural disasters in U.S. history when it struck Louisiana and other Gulf Coast states in August 2005. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which Cassidy references as instrumental in securing funding for flood protection projects, was signed into law in November 2021 to address infrastructure needs across the country.
Cassidy also commented on border security and government accountability later that evening. He posted, “This report corroborates my investigation—Biden’s open border endangered unaccompanied children and cost American taxpayers. Under @POTUS, the border is now more secure than ever and his Administration is working to prevent this failure from happening again.” (September 5, 2025). The Biden administration has implemented several measures aimed at increasing border security while also addressing humanitarian concerns about unaccompanied minors arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Senator Bill Cassidy represents Louisiana in the United States Senate and has previously served as a physician before entering public office.
